Tamron unveil their very own Silent Drive lens.

19th March 2010

I know as well as anyone the difficulties and compromises when it comes to affording wildlife photography equipment such as telephoto lenses. My own budget constraints have led me to continue using independent lens manufacturers such as Tamron, Tokin and Sigma over the Year’s. However my own experience in using independent lens manufacturers has always been very good. True none of the above will quite touch Canon for its speed of focus however when it comes to image quality I certainly have no complaints.

It’s good news for amateurs to see Tamron finally catching up with the likes of Sigma in incorporating their very own Ultra Silent Drive in a latest incarnation of their popular 70-300mm lens. The new lens which is currently only available in Nikon fit (with Canon & Sony to follow) features extra low dispersion glass elements and a vibration compensation image stabilisation system enabling users to manage the lens at shutter speeds as low as 4 stops slower than would normally be possible.
