Marwell launches Inaugural Wildlife Photography Competition

Celebrating variety in wildlife Marwell Wildlife Park opens their inaugural Wildlife Photography Competition 2010. The competition is open to amateur photographers, professionals, young and old and looks to find the most striking photographs that capture the essence of nature in the four categories available to enter:

1.    FLIGHT – in support of Marwells 2010 fundraising appeal for birds
2.    Native Wildlife – flora and fauna from the British Isles
3.    Funnies – nature at its most amusing
4.    Marwell Wildlife Park residents

Photographers can enter up to six images and the deadline for entries is the 5th June 2010. Entries can be submitted to http://www.flickr.com/groups/marwellwildlifephotocomp/ or alternatively emailed to photocomp@marwell.org.uk. The competition judges include TV presenter and photographer Chris Packham, Editor of BBC Wildlife Magazine Sophie Stafford, David Fidler from Canon UK and Chris Horsley, Marwell Photographic Group Chairman.

Entries must be accompanied by your name, address, age (if 15 years or under), image description and the category you wish to submit them to.

The overall winning photograph will be included in Marwell Wildlife’s 2011 calendar and the winner will receive a fantastic Canon Powershot SX200is camera. The best junior photo entry will also be featured in the 2011 Marwell calendar and win a Canon Ixus 95is camera.

All the competition category winners and runners up will be exhibited alongside the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition 2009 exhibition at the Winchester Discovery Centre this summer. Prints will subsequently be displayed at the Marwell Zoological Park.
