WildlifeExtra.com Inaugural Wildlife Photography Competition
20th December 2009Online wildlife magazine WildlifeExtra.com announces the winners to its inaugural nature photography competition. In a celebration of the UK’s diverse wildlife the e-magazine asked visitors to submit their best UK wildlife photos.
The website which provides a host of resources and information for wildlife enthusiasts including news, events, nature reserve guides, articles, wildlife jobs etc notes that successful wildlife photography doesn’t necessarily involve long flights to far off lands. The competition not only highlights just how stunningly beautiful the British Isles and its wildlife is, but also illustrates that as far as a competition goes it does not need a fat pay check to seduce talented photographers into wanting to show off their work.
The overall winner of the 2009 WildlifeExtra.com wildlife photography competition was Lee Davis, for an extraordinary shot of a black-headed gull robbing a puffin, taken on the Farne Islands. Lee was using a Canon EOS-1D Mark II digital SLR camera. He receives a bronze sculpture by David Mayer as well as the opportunity to nominate a UK wildlife charity to receive a £500 donation courtesy of WildlifeExtra.com.
