This photograph was featured in the 1998 BG Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards as a highly commended entry in the "Animal Portraits" category. It was an image I specifically had in my head and wanted to get. I had seen plenty of fox photos but I wanted one to show the shear beauty of Red foxes and for me British Wildlife. At the time the award was a huge achievement for me as I had only owned a camera for about 2 years by then. I put the success down to a couple of main things,...one my field skills which is at the heart of successful wildlife photography and two the encouragement and inspiration of my boss then and still Jason Venus who was overall Wildlife Photographer of the Year two years previous in 1996.
