Moving home
The Nogote orphans have been supported by AAF since August 2000, when both parents died, and since then Robert, Julius, Grace and David have been cared for by their grandmother. They have been living on land belonging to someone else, and during July received a letter from the owner saying that he wanted to sell the land, and asking them to either buy the land or move somewhere else. In view of this, AAF decided to bring forward a programme to re-house them on our own land, and at present a new brick house is being constructed for them at Kwa Kirungu, near Twimyua. They would benefit by being near to a good water source, as many of the health problems experienced in the past have been because of drinking contaminated water, and poor hygiene in the home.

We are hoping that the house and a VPL latrine will be finished soon and that they can move into their new home, which will give the children security, and be closer to a better school.

Future projects?
During our mission, we identified many projects for consideration when funding is available, among them are:-

• A new clinic at Kairungu, where at present patients have to walk 3 hrs. for treatment.
• An extension at Mivukoni Clinic to provide maternity beds and postnatal care.
• Solar powered lighting for the Mivukoni maternity wing.
• To purchase more bulls and ploughs to extend our loan scheme.
• To arrange sponsors for 12 worthy youngsters who have applied this year for support.
• Provide a new classroom block for Kalambani Primary School.
• Carry out repairs to buildings and water tanks at Kagoongo School.
• Pay for the training, and to employ an AAF health advisor for the area.
